SHODŌ 05
a No-Makeup Makeup Brush for a skin-like finish.
Shodō 05 is crafted using a first-of-its-kind technique inspired from traditional Japanese calligraphy.
Artisans carefully alternate 10,000+ long and short fibres to create micro-layers along the tip of the brush that gives your makeup a soft, diffused & buildable finish.
Pending community feedback on these brushes, we plan on transitioning more of our existing brushes into the new shodō platform in the future.

Product FAQ+−
can i use this for cream blush or just powder?
about 70% of community members report using the shodō 05 with powder products, but roughly 22% regularly use it with cream and liquid blush as well. most find it blends cream formulas smoothly without lifting base products underneath. a small number of community members noted it works better with powders and felt less effective with heavier cream or liquid formulas.
will this work if i tend to be heavy-handed with blush?
this is one of the most common reasons community members reach for the shodō 05. the staggered bristle lengths pick up and deposit product in thin, buildable layers. around 68% of community members specifically mention it prevents over-application, even with highly pigmented blushes. you can always layer more on, but the brush naturally keeps things subtle.
how does this compare to the regular 05 brush?
community members who own both note that the shodō 05 is less dense and gives a more diffused, sheer finish than the original 05. the regular 05 tends to deposit more pigment and is often preferred when a bolder application is wanted. many keep both in rotation for different intensity levels.
is this brush only for blush or can i use it for other things?
community members frequently use the shodō 05 for bronzer, highlighter, setting powder, and even light foundation application. around 18% specifically mention bronzer and highlighter as regular use cases. its moderate size and tapered shape make it a solid multitasker across most face products.
is the brush head big enough for blush on a larger face?
most community members find the size just right for precise cheek placement. however, roughly 10% wished the brush head were slightly larger for broader coverage or for use as a setting powder brush. if you prefer wide, sweeping blush application, you may want to pair it with a larger brush for blending edges.
